Meet Amy Read
Sunshine Functional Healing was founded in 2021 by Nurse Practitioner Amy Read after years of struggling with her own health issues and discovering the power of root-cause medicine. What conventional care couldn't solve, functional medicine did. That experience drives everything we do: digging deeper, asking why, and building plans that address the real problem.
We're an independent functional medicine practice accepting new clients in MI, SC, NY, MD, and VA through telemedicine, with in-office visits available in South Carolina and Michigan. From managing complex health conditions to optimizing wellness and supporting healthy aging, we help clients take control of their health at every stage of life. We build personalized plans rooted in science and tailored to your goals.
Our clients come to us for a wide range of concerns, including hormonal imbalances and women's health, cognitive decline and memory support, anxiety, depression, and mental wellness, weight management, neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASD and PANS/PANDAS, and complex multi-system cases that traditional medicine hasn't been able to resolve.
Our practice operates on the secure Practice Better platform, which includes a mobile app so you can access your health records, check appointment details, or message your provider right from your phone, wherever you are.

Monica is a dedicated, HIPAA-certified Healthcare Virtual Assistant with a strong background in both community and hospital pharmacy. She specializes in appointment scheduling, patient communication, billing support, calendar and email management, medical records organization, data entry, and a wide range of administrative tasks.
Realyn Elvambuena, RN
A registered nurse from the Philippines with over a decade of clinical experience since 2011. She currently serve as an Assistant at Sunshine Functional Healing, where I bring both international clinical expertise and American licensure-level knowledge to support patients with professionalism and compassion.
